Guest post: Organic Beauty is Best

Hey everyone!

A few days ago, I got an email by Jackie Clark from the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance website. She kindly asked me if she could do a guest post on my blog about women who have cancer and their inner and outer beauty. I was so touched by this, I have never done a guest post before and I feel this subject relates to me.

I lost a family member to cancer about 8 years ago and just recently, a dear friend of mine got diagnosed at age 24. I know that the emotional and psycological state of a patient is vital for his treatment, and I strongly believe makeup and fashion can help a woman who suffers from the disease find her confidence again and make her smile.

Please take some minutes and read Jackie's post. I want to thank her so much for sending this to me to post on my blog!

Organic Beauty is Best
By: Jackie Clark

There is nothing like a cancer diagnosis to make a woman feel unattractive, without confidence and powerless. Unfortunately, this is a terrible time to feel this way. When a doctor looks at a woman and informs her that she has cancer, whether it is a common form of cancer or a rare form such as mesothelioma she needs to feel confident that she can fight this disease. She needs to feel powerful and in control of her body so that she will have an easier time accepting the treatments that she will have to go through; feeling confident and powerful will make it easier for her to handle the side effects of treatment and even to reduce the severity of these treatments in some cases.

When it comes to beauty and women feeling beautiful in their own skin, cancer can really take a toll. Beauty may not seem like something that is important when it comes to cancer, but it is actually very important. The reason for this is simple; when a woman feels beautiful she feels confident and powerful. When a woman needs to feel beautiful, she turns to the mirror and looks at herself wondering how she can improve her reflection. The first thing that comes to the minds of many women is their makeup. Makeup has this almost magic ability to make women feel instantly beautiful. Perhaps it is because makeup is designed to cover and hide what women believe to be their flaws.

When a woman wants to feel more beautiful all she has to do is apply her makeup. She will feel instantly more gorgeous and her confidence level will rise several notches. When a woman wants to feel even more beautiful, she should try organic makeup. The reason for trying organic makeup is that it will make women feel even more beautiful because they will be covering their self-perceived flaws as well as making the world a better place by utilizing the all natural ingredients found in the makeup. Organic makeup is made of all natural ingredients, which is not only good for the environment and the world women live in, but also it is good for their skin. Natural makeup will not place harsh, unnatural chemicals on a woman’s skin, therefore her skin will appear more youthful and smooth after only a few uses.
Additionally, organic makeup looks more natural. Women will look naturally beautiful because their makeup will not look caked on and obvious.

There is nothing more gorgeous than a woman that looks so beautiful that it seems she isn’t even wearing any makeup at all. Fighting cancer is difficult for women; there’s no reason they shouldn’t look absolutely fabulous while they fight their inconvenient disease. Makeup gives women the courage and the strength to take ownership of their bodies and know that no matter what diagnosis they might have, it is possible to overcome cancer.  When a woman feels beautiful it shows and makeup helps to accomplish both inner and outer beauty.

Pot o' Gold

Hey everyone!

Even though I don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day (I'm Greek) I always liked the festivities! A few days ago, I won the Pot o' Gold set by a great etsy shop called For Goodness Grape. Lisa, the owner, does all natural lip stuff, like lip tints and lip scrubs, but not your everyday ones!

So onto the set I got.

I was in awe when I saw the packaging! Definately a plus.

The Irish cream Lip Candy is by far my most loved of the four products. This is a lip balm, really moisturizing and hydrating.
On the page they mention:
Irish Cream Lip Candy - Shea Butter Lip Balm

Being a well known and incredible blend of liquid emotions that goes by the name Baileys. Made with whiskey, cream, vanilla, chocolate, coffee and caramel.

Yes, this smells in fact like Baileys. It's such a delicious scent and I haven't used or seen anything like it. I really enjoyed the feel of it on my lips, they are always dry and this provided an instant moisture.

The Irish Cream Lip scrub was indeed really different from what I've seen in the past. What it is:

Irish Cream Sugary Lip Scrub - Handmade Sugar Lip Scrub

Wonderful Irish Cream goodness complete with a lucky four leafed clover on top.

It’s everything that a lip candy is with the addition of organic raw sugar which when rubbed on your lips will help to condition lips and remove any unsightly dead/dry skin from your lips. Helping to prepare them for the application of Lip Candy or other lip product.

I love lip srubs and I use them constantly because my lips are always so dry. My favorite so far has to be the Bubblegum one by Lush, but that one is in a jar and it's not exactly hygenic to use. This comes in handy because I only rub it on my lips without having to dip my fingers in it. It has the exact same scent like the Lip Candy, like Baileys!

Shamrock Shimmer Lip Tint - Tinted Lip Balm - Shimmer Gloss

A beautiful emerald green shimmer with gold reflects just in time for some St Patrick's Day fun and if you're wearing this...you won't get pinched either

Looking for an extreme shimmer and shine in one? You've just found it :) This a very beautiful extreme shimmer and shine stix that will enhance any look you're going for in an all natural formula. Perfect for everyday at work, home or play.

It gives a nice shine on my lips and it's very moisturising, but it's green. I mean it's really green! This is supposed to be used only on St. Patricks Day, so for everyday use it's a no-no for me!

Now, a perfume Stix...what is it?

Celtic Moonspice Perfume Stix - Handmade Solid Perfume Stick

A wonderfully fragrant blend of warm spices, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. Gives you that warm home and hearth feeling like a cozy cottage with a fireplace on a cold snowy evening.

Perfect to carry along in your purse or pocket for little touch-ups throughout the day.

Perfume Stix are great for layering scents as well which is one of my favorite ways to use them. Just put one or two in your purse or in your pocket and you are good to go!

This smells amazing!!! I tried it on my wrists in the morning and seriously smelled all day long. It's not overpowering but it's so yummy! The only bad thing is that I don't like solid perfumes. I know some people love them and use them, but they're not convenient for me to use.

Is it bad I am lusting over these right now?

L'oreal event

Hey everyone!

Yesterday afternoon, I visited L'oreal in Athens for the Greek beauty bloggers event.

I got to meet many bloggers and learn about new products by L'oreal. The event was amazing, we saw all the new products that have not yet been released here and even try them. Also, the L'oreal makeup artist Dimitris Giannetos, had a nice chat with us and answered some of our questions related to beauty and makeup! I loved everything to the last bit and I want to thank L'oreal  and the Greek beauty bloggers team for inviting me to such an exciting event!

I even went home with a little bag full of goodies!!!

I loved everything I got, but my absolute favourites of the goodie bag...

The nail polish is from their Color Riche collection and it's an absolut must for this season! It's called Lush Tangeringe and I was lusting over it the moment I saw it on display at the event. The consistency is to die for, you don't even need a top coat and it shines like crazy!

And the lipstick...oh my god. I discovered I had gotten a nudish brown in my bag and I have so many in my collection. So Stavroula suggested we make a swap as we both liked each other's shades better! This glides on like heaven, all buttery! Theycollection is called Caresse and the shade is Fashionista Pink, a bubblegum pink which comes out sheer and shiny on the lips. I tried it yesterday and I loved it.

I didn't have my camera with me as I woke up and realised it was out of battery. Bummer!
You can see some of the photos of the event though, in the Greek beauty bloggers facebook page here.

PS. I'm the girl in the royal blue shirt.

Oysho...at last!

Hey everyone!

A quick update I got today on my email!

As most of you know, brands like ZARA, H&M and Oysho don't offer an online shop and shipping for Greeks. But as of today, we can shop online at Oysho on their website http://www.oysho.com.

Also, they offer free shipping for this week only, 12-18 March.

I really hope this is just a start and other stores will follow soon!

More than beauty

Hey everyone!

Tag posts are awesome, I have a blast doing them and reading what others say! Mara tagged me to do the More than Beauty one a couple days ago. Go check out her blog and Youtube channel, I've been watching her videos for months and I love her style!

Onto the tag!

I don't really know what the rules are, I have 15 questions to answer here and people to tag. I guess I'll tag 7?? I'll just take the iniciative and tag 7!

1. Fondest childhood memory
Ahhh I have so many! I live by the sea and I always remember how I longed for the summer to come so I could go and play on the beach with my friends! We spent half of our day on the beach and by the end of summer I was nearly African black!

2. Quirky habit
I HAVE to sleep with a sleeping mask. The tiniest ray of light can keep me sleepless or wake me up, so I keep a  mask on my bedside table. I also need to have some sort of sound in low volume to fall asleep easier, like people talking or slow music playing (snoring is not a good sound to make me sleep). I'm weird.

3. Play sports?
No.

4. Favorite book?
So many! At the moment, the Maze Runner.

5. If you could invent something, what coud it be?
Time travel machine, duh!

6. If you would own your own business, what would you do?
I'd run a spa or I'd make candles with yummy scents. Haven't decided!

7. Someone you admire(who doesn't know who you are)
Zooey Deschanel. I love her. She's girly and quirky and I wish we could be friends!!! I love these kind of people, super positive about life, bubbly and artistic!

8. A talent you wish you had
I wish I knew how to play the saxophone. I love jazz music and I've always admired sax players, it's a super difficult instrument to learn!

9. Something you wish you'd known 2 years ago
Oooh, that's hard. The only thing I can think of right now, is that I had a minor food poisoning 2 years ago. So, I'd say to my 21-year-old self  "Don't eat that ice cream, it's bad for you!!!"

10. What do you do to feel centered/relaxed?
I cook. I feel that I'm good at it and I constantly try to find new and exciting recipes. The whole process of cooking and baking is what makes me relax. Mixing ingredients together and make something beautiful and tasty with love. It's an art, really!

11. Who is someone that makes you feel loved?
My boyfriend.

12. The most interesting place you've been and why.
Now, here Mara said Disneyland and I completely agree with her!!! I nearly fainted when I got in the Sleeping Beauty castle. However, I want to visit a real haunted castle. Scotland here I come!

13. 3 books you can't wait to read?
Actually, there are 4 and they are the Game of Thrones series. I already read the first one, but they are humongous, around 1000 pages each and they will take me ages to read the rest of them!

14. A cherished keepsake you'll keep forever?
I'm very much into keepsakes and scrapbooking, I even have 2 boxes full of memorabilia. You may find me stupid or materialistic in some way, but even these little things matter to me. My most precious though, is a painting my best friend made for my birthday last year. I keep it on the wall above my bed and I love it so much!

15. Something you really want to see or do before you die?
I want to visit New York really badly!

I tag:

Argyrousa
Cute&GirlyDMS
Missdudette
Elena's Finds
Glitter me up
Natalie's Beautyland

Up until next time, kisses dolls!!!

Booming Trend: Flower Explosion (& Marni event)

Hey everyone!

I love flower prints, I always did.So the SS12, flowers have exploded and they're everywhere! The best way to wear this trend for me, is to keep it simple accessory-wise and to wear just one floral piece (like a skirt or a pair of pants) but keep everything else monochromatic.

Untitled #3

On Monday, I went to the H&M/Marni event in downtown Athens with my bestie. There were loads and loads of people! That's not exactly good for me, I don't enjoy packed places and I often feel claustrophobic when I'm in them.

How I felt about the Marni collection? For me, it was just meh. I didn't see much of it in the store though, everything was gone when I got there. I only got to see just a pair of shorts hanging on a rack. I did however some shopping that day, I had some champaign and I hang out with my best friend, which is always fun!

Here are some pics I managed to take.

The line to the store. And yes, it was raining!

If you noticed, there are no clothes on the shelves and the racks. People are just socializing!

Did you like the Marni collection?
How do you feel about the flower trend this spring/summer season?

I don't haul often. But when I do...

Hey everyone!

So what has been going on for the past 2 weeks:
a. I had exams. Thank God they're over! I don't like exams, I really don't! In fact, they've always been a nightmare for me.
b. I was ill. I had a cold for about a week and although it wasn't anything serious or life threatening, I didn't want to do anything more than eating/sleeping/bathroom activities.
c. I wasn't in the mood for blogging. I've been reading a TON of blogposts and watched hundreds of videos on youtube, but I was just...procrastinating. And boy, I'm so good at that!
d. I changed my entire haircare and skincare routine. Everything is going amazingly well and I can't wait to share my findings with you!

This post I guess, is a collective haul of (most of) the makeup items I got recently. Starting off...

I visited H&M with some bloggers a few weeks ago and I got a trio of mini nail polishes and a black eyeliner. I couldn't resist the nail polishes, they looked so cute and sparkly, so I grabbed them.
I wanted to try the eyeliner for so long. Mara has talked about it in some of her videos and I always managed to forget buying it when I was in a store! It's actually a great eyeliner, one of THE blackest blacks I've tried (including my fave, Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner). Very nice buy (and super cheap as well).

Next, I got a nice little gift by L'oreal. I had participated in a contest/giveaway back in December and they contacted me then and said I would be sent some products from their Gold Elegance collection. I had forgotten all about it, until I got them in the mail last week.
I posted them on a photo on twitter and some girls wanted to see some swatches of the products, so here they are!

I had never tried any Color Infallible eyeshadows. Their packaging is lovely. First, I thought these were pigments, but the concistency is way better. They are loose eyeshadows with a velvety feel, great pigmentation and they do not crease easily. The Golden Mahogany shade is a wearable rusty red color and the Goldmine one, is a really sparkly gold. Both have shimmer. I want to try more colors, I loved that they are so soft!

I haven't tried the blush yet, but it's a nice light pink color and I think it would give a nice flush on my skin. Also, I tried the True Match foundation, but it wasn't the correct shade for me. The Rose Ivory one was quite light, so I'll give it to my best friend who's paler. However, it was a nice foundation, I liked the smell a lot and it blended nicely on my skin, without leaving any streaks.
I haven't opened the Volume Million Lashes mascara either, but I've tried it in the past and it's the bomb. It's one of my favorite mascaras and in fact, I was thinking of repurchasing it when I'd use up all my opened ones.

I love the Color Riche lipsticks!!! The Flaming Fuschia one is a true red with a LOT of shimmer. But it was in the holiday collection, so it was supposed to be that way, right? I love the color, the pigmentation and generally everything about it. It's definately not your everyday lipstick, but although I'll wear it in rare occassions, it's one of my favorite shades. The shimmer is not extremely visible though, you can tone it down easily.

I also got 2 Revlon lipsticks on ebay. I have been in love with their Super Lustrous Creme ones recently. My lips are on the dry side, so I try to buy moisturizing and creme textures rather than mattes. These are amazing, I can easily compare them to high-end and MAC ones, but their price is just a fraction of those. In Greece, however, they are really expensive, so I always buy them online from this seller!

I got the shades Kiss me Coral and Love That Pink. I didn't want to buy boring nudes/pinks again, so I decided to get these and I'm extremely happy I did. Kiss me Coral is a really bold corally orange/tangerine and Love that Pink is a reddish pink, very bold as well. I know I'll wear them non stop in the summer!

I love Essence products, I have blogged about them a lot and I use them daily. So, when Selehna told me I won some products on her giveaway I hadn't tried yet, I was very excited!

I don't know why I hadn't tried this mascara earlier! It's simply great. I don't really want to lengthen my lashes, so I mostly prefer volumizing mascaras. This one is one of the best I've tried and it's not expensive at all. I used high end mascaras in the past like YSL, but I can't see why I would do something like that again. It's not hygenic to use a mascara 3 months after you've opened it, so why buy an expensive one when there are great drugstore ones?

I hadn't tried the smokey set either. There are two gray eyeshadows in the set, the dark one is a cream shadow, whereas the light one is a powder shadow. The pigmentation isn't THAT great and they do need a primer before applying them because they crease, especially the cream one. I like them and I will wear them even on daytime because they apply lighltly, but I won't go out and buy them.

Now this, I don't know how to use. I was really baffled when I got it. It's supposed to be a powder eyeliner and eyeshadow. I tried to use it as an eyeliner, but it was very powdery and the line was thick and uneven. I used it as an eyeshadow, but the pigmentation wasn't nice at all. Have I been using it wrong? Is there a special way to apply it that I don't know of? Ughhh.

I love the Essence lipglosses! I got this in shade 01 Pure Beauty. It's a really nice nude with the teeniest of shimmer in it. It's not sticky and has a lovely sweet smell. Just great!

I know I haven't done any fashion posts lately, but I'll do one very soon!
Also, expect my giveaway in a few days...I think you'll like it!
